UNIQLO// SCREEN EXPERIENCE

Interactive Displays • Technology Integration • Audio/Video

CHALLENGE

Uniqlo is known for extending its technology from the clothes to the in-store experience. Through its stores and pop-ups, the Japanese minimalist fashion brand and retail competitor to Gap and Zara, aims to interact with its young consumers with their unique innovative style. Uniqlo’s disruptive marketing initiatives of mixing physical store and technology in one environment demanded “tech-inspired” display design solutions that integrate into the overall shopping experience rather than afterwards. The fast growing retailer’s interactive apps to create content, as well as designing t-shirts required the amplification of its social activities, as well as bring visibility to their distinct merchandising while inspiring creativity and engagement in-store.

SOLUTION

Crafted similarly within the concept of art installations, LCD screens creatively lined the perimeter of Uniqlo’s retail stores to display recent marketing campaigns and promotions showcasing new merchandise and collections. Buzzworthy pop-up stores were wired with interactive touch screens to largely scale social activities of Uniqlo’s apps within a modern communal space for inspiration. The technology-orchestrated brand experience pushed the limits of in-store and digital engagement inviting Millennials and consumers to create real-time content that can be immediately featured throughout the store. Keeping technical difficulties at bay, the well-designed infrastructure of hardware and display electronics made all the difference in launch success.
