CHALLENGE

this is teen, an integrated, comprehensive initiative and young adult division of Scholastic, that connects teens with their favorite Scholastic authors and books, wanted to build a community of readers. There was a need for an engaging, content-rich and teen-focused hub where readers can engage and communicate with each other, where the brand could feature on-going exclusive author videos, blog entries, contests, trivia, giveaways, and a cross-section of young adult authors and books published by Scholastic.

SOLUTION

Inspired by the success of digital technologies that were built from a recommendation or suggestive concept, interactive innovation was created to give visibility to an entire library of young adult genre and manage features of new authors and books. Pushing the limits beyond quiz and “mad lib” type apps, the Book Finder proved to be a true interactive tool that created a fun experience to search for new books and engage with young teens based on their favorite books, authors, and topics. Within six months, the “this is teen” Facebook page attracted more than 65,000 fans.
